I think this is the very best show of 1974. With shows this good, I mean in the same class, it becomes very difficult to discern between them. I think what sets this apart is the feel of it. It is stretched out just enough, and yet has a certain stillness to it. The playing is exceptionally tight, and Billy’s time throughout is perfect. Every element is represented here with confidence and enthusiasm. From the funked out Soundcheck Jam to the Saturday Night encore this one is that good…

I agree- one could argue that almost every show from the last week of May up through Selland deserves serious consideration for any well thought out "Best of '74" list...

4.5 star AUD...if anyone is interested(NOTES: Pitch corrected -72 cents from master playback)

some reviewer comments:
"This sounds surprisingly good for a 74 audience. The only issue is the recording levels - they are too high, leading to distortion. I've only listened to Scarlet through Playin' so far, but the Playin' contains whole universes of sound that bear repeated exploration. If it were a soundboard, it would get 5 stars on the strength of the Playin' alone."

"Thanks for this. It's waaay hotter than that old hissy slow soundboard cassette I had years and years ago."

"No one had commented about what this great recording needed: thanx for the pitch fix. Now we can download."
